ECINET is the Election Commission of India's (ECI) single app and web platform for voters, candidates, political parties and election officials. The ECI launched it on 22 January 2026 at the India International Conference on Democracy and Election Management (IICDEM) in New Delhi. It brings together more than 40 of the Commission's earlier apps and portals, including the Voter Helpline App (VHA) that most voters used to search their names and file forms. If you used to open Voter Helpline, ECINET is now the app the ECI points you to.
This post covers what moved into ECINET, what a voter can do in it, and the checks worth making before you rely on it.
Where ECINET came from
| Date | What happened |
|---|---|
| 4 May 2025 | The ECI announced ECINET, saying it would "integrate and reorient over 40" of its mobile and web applications. |
| 2025 | A beta version was used during the Bihar Assembly elections and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). |
| 3 January 2026 | The ECI asked citizens to try the app and send suggestions through its Submit a Suggestion tab by 10 January 2026. |
| 22 January 2026 | ECINET was formally launched at IICDEM-2026. The ECI said it is available in 22 scheduled languages and English, and that since the beta it had processed over 10 crore registration forms with more than 11 lakh BLOs registered. |
Which apps it replaces
The ECI's May 2025 release names the best-known apps ECINET subsumes:
- Voter Helpline App: name search, voter forms, complaints, contacting election officials
- Voter Turnout App (polling trends)
- cVIGIL: reporting Model Code of Conduct violations
- Suvidha 2.0: permissions for candidates and parties
- Saksham: services for electors with disabilities
- Know Your Candidate (KYC): candidates' affidavits, assets and criminal cases
- ESMS: the Election Seizure Management System, used by officials
The release says these apps together had over 5.5 crore downloads. The full list of 40 also includes web portals such as the Voters' Service Portal, Electoral Search, the affidavit portal and the results website, and officials' apps such as the BLO App and ERONET.
The older apps may still show up in app stores. The ECI now describes ECINET as the "single, unified App for citizens" that integrates them, so new features arrive there.
What a voter can do in ECINET
The ECI's launch release lists these services, among others:
| Service | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Voter registration | Filing Form 6 (new voter), Form 6A (overseas elector), Form 7 (objection or deletion) and Form 8 |
| Electoral roll search | Finding your name, part number, serial number and polling station |
| Track Your Application | Following a form you filed, by its reference number |
| e-EPIC download | A digital copy of your voter ID card |
| Book-a-Call with BLO | Asking your Booth Level Officer (BLO) to call you back |
| Connect with Election Officials | Contact details of your BLO, Electoral Registration Officer (ERO), DEO and CEO |
| Know Your Candidate | Candidates' sworn affidavits |
| Polling trends | Turnout figures on polling day |
| Grievance redressal | Complaints about electoral services |
Form 8 is the one most people need. It covers shifting your residence, correcting entries such as name, age or photo, replacing a lost or damaged EPIC, and marking a disability.
Getting started
- Install ECINET from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store. Check that the publisher is the Election Commission of India before you sign in.
- Sign up with your mobile number and verify it with the OTP. Keep the phone with that number at hand.
- To search your name, use your EPIC number, the number printed on your voter ID card. It gives the most precise match. Searching by name and relative's name also works but can return several people.
- Note your AC number, part number and serial number. Polling staff look you up by these.
The same voter services are available on the web at voters.eci.gov.in if you prefer a computer.
Book-a-Call with BLO and the 1950 helpline
Book-a-Call with BLO sends your request to the BLO for your polling area, who calls you back. According to All India Radio's report of the ECI's announcement in October 2025, the Commission directed CEOs, DEOs and EROs to dispose of these requests within 48 hours. The same report lists the other channels:
- 1950, the voter helpline number
- 1800-11-1950, the toll-free National Contact Centre, open 8 am to 8 pm every day
- State and district contact centres, during office hours on working days
- Email to
complaints@eci.gov.in
Use Book-a-Call when the problem needs someone who knows your area. Examples: your name is missing after SIR, your form is stuck at field verification, or you have received a notice and don't know what document to give.
What ECINET shows is official data, entered by officials
The ECI's May 2025 release says data on ECINET "will be entered solely by the authorized ECI official". It adds that if there is any conflict, "the primary data as duly filled in statutory forms will prevail". In practice, a wrong spelling or age in the app is fixed with Form 8, not by contacting the app's support.
Checks before you rely on it
- Part and serial numbers can change. During SIR, polling stations were rationalised to a maximum of 1,200 electors and rolls were re-serialised. Search again before polling day. Our post on why part numbers changed after SIR explains this, and checking your name in the SIR phase 3 final roll covers the final-roll stage.
- Your form status is not the final word until the roll is published. An accepted form takes effect when the roll is next published or updated, so check the roll itself.
- Keep your reference number. Every form filed gives one. You need it for Track Your Application and for any complaint.
If you only want your part and serial number, our free electoral roll search finds them by EPIC number or lets you browse by constituency and open the part's roll PDF. It is independent and not affiliated with the ECI. For problems with a missing name, see which form to file when your name is missing from the draft roll.
FAQ
Is ECINET the same as the Voter Helpline app?
ECINET replaces it. The ECI describes ECINET as a single app integrating the Voter Helpline App, cVIGIL, Saksham, Polling Trends, Know Your Candidate and others.
Is ECINET free?
Yes. It is the ECI's own app, available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, and the voter services in it don't charge a fee.
Can I file Form 6 or Form 8 in ECINET?
Yes. Voter registration forms, including Forms 6, 6A, 7 and 8, are among the services the ECI lists. You can also file them on voters.eci.gov.in.
How do I reach my BLO through ECINET?
Use Book-a-Call with BLO. Your BLO is expected to call back, and the ECI has directed officials to dispose of such requests within 48 hours. You can also call 1950.
What if ECINET shows a wrong detail about me?
File Form 8 to correct it. Data in ECINET comes from the electoral roll maintained by election officials, and the statutory forms prevail in any conflict.
